What are you doing for Spring Break?
March! Spring Beak! YAY! How will you spend your spring break? I will be spending mine touring colleges…”yay?” As you read that last sentence, if you are a senior parent and “the decision” has been made, you felt a bit guilty at the overwhelming surge of joy you felt as you realized that you are well past that mile marker. If you are a “not yet decided” senior parent or a junior parent, you wondered what colleges, are they the same ones on your list, why are they on our list, and had a fleeting thought that perhaps we could car pool and save on gas. If you are a sophomore parent, you thought “oh yeah, we should start thinking about that college touring thing.” If you are a freshman parent, you thought “College! can we just get though the Geography AP test please!” Spring fever- we all have it, especially our teens. There is just something about peeking over the edge of winter (even if it is 75 degrees outside) and into spring that just makes one antsy. What can we do with all that energy? Maybe step out of the comfort zone and try something new? Perhaps take something we already do well and crank it up a notch? Give it away and do something for someone else? I am going to challenge my son to NOT spend it saving virtual worlds in a video game. He may roll his eyes and completely ignore me, but I am going to try! We are almost done CVHS family. We made it through that really long stretch from MLK Day to those 5 glorious days in March. And then, it is a short leap to the April spring holiday, zoom into May. Dead Week. Tests. Done. Whew! But the PTO does have plenty to fill the next 3 months. Please join us for the April 16 general meeting. It will be catered by none other than our own Officer Files- so come hungry. We will be honoring all of this year’s volunteers, bidding a PTO farewell to the 3 retiring CVHS teachers (Jonas, Swenson, and Dewey), and we will be electing new officers for 2015-2016. May 19’s General meeting will be the ever popular award banquet- more to come on that. Also- seniors, don’t forgot to apply for the PTO Scholarship! And…don’t forget Pi Day over spring break. Since this 2015, it will be 3/14/15 at 9:52:65.
