“The Dog Stays in the Picture”
The General Meeting on February 19th featured Susan Morse, author of “The Dog Stays in the Picture: How My Rescued Greyhound Helped me Cope with my Empty Nest.”
Her talk, reading and subsequent Q and A were very well received. Lucky attendees snapped up a copy of the book along with an autograph and “paw print”. She was humorous, warm, personable and honest about her experiences sending one daughter and two twin boys off to college, all different experiences.
I am sure many parents cannot wrap their heads around empty nesting. We are all currently wrapped up in our kid’s grades, AP classes, extracurriculars, etc. I remember when my son was a toddler and people would say, “You’ll blink and he’ll be grown.” I blinked.
If you were not able to attend the meeting, check out Susan’s blog here. Her book can be found at all the virtual and tangible booksellers.
Please join us for the April 16 general meeting. It will be catered by none other than our very own BBQ Pitmaster Officer Files, so come hungry. We will be honoring all of this year’s volunteers, bidding a PTO farewell to the three retiring CVHS teachers (Messrs. Jonas, Swenson and Dewey), and we will be electing new officers for 2015-2016 school year. The general meeting on May 19 will be the ever popular award banquet, more to come on that.
Also, seniors, don’t forgot to apply for the PTO Scholarship at vanguardian.org!
