So long, and thanks for the fish!
Last missive from the 14-15 President:
As the year winds down, we have a few events left to share.
So long, and thanks for the fish!
Though this is a well-read group- just in case you did not get the reference, Google Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and if is still makes no sense, you have some summer reading to do. It has been a fabulous year as CVHS PTO Pres., but now I am I am packing my towel and moving on- well sort of. I get a whole other year as Past President, but I gather that mostly involves making runs to Costco for bottled water at PTO events (not really Kevin Finkel and Sara Dietrich :)). I have been on many boards and in many volunteer organizations over the years (what will I do with all my spare time when my son goes off to college!), but have never worked with such a stand up group of folks as the current CVHS PTO Board. Everyone gets along, plans get made, jobs get delegated, and stuff gets done- ‘nuf said! Thanks to all the Board for all their hard work all year long (fun fact- the average Board meeting takes two hours- and that doesn’t include all the other PTO events for the month. That takes Volunteers with a capital “V”). CVHS is an amazing place and we have an amazing army of parent, teacher and community volunteers that keep it going. My tenure may be over, but DON’T PANIC! The 15-16 PTO Board and other volunteers are posted here: https://vanguardian.org/pto-committees/. Joan Khosla will be your new President. She has served on the board for several years in other positions and possesses a sound institutional history to keep the Board going strong. Additionally, please check out the PTO website to see what we have accomplished this year: https://vanguardian.org/about-the-cvhs-pto/where-did-my-donation-go.
I would like to extend a special PTO Board thank you to Kevin McCarthy for constructing the Kennedy Brown Memorial Arbor. If you have not seen it, please stop by the courtyard, take a look, and have a swing. It is a fitting tribute to Kennedy. Many folks contributed ideas and helped with the process- so thanks to all.
As the year winds down, we have a few events left to share.

Spoiler Alert- stop reading if you have no idea who the late, great Douglas Adams is.
As you spend the summer pondering the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything, remember- the answer is 42!
